Assault Charges
There are many different kinds of assaults, all with varying levels of seriousness. A person can be charged with simple assault, assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, sexual assault, and aggravated sexual assault. The definition of assault in the Criminal Code is very broad and encompasses any intentional act that applies force directly or indirectly to a person without their consent. It also includes an act or gesture that threatens to apply force to a person if it causes the other person to believe on reasonable grounds that you have the present ability to effect that purpose.
